Mayflower recently joined a handful of UK companies who meet the requirements to obtain military welding accreditation, DIN 2303 class Q2. This is the latest in a string of certifications for the Company, and contributes towards the high level of engineering capabilities that they can offer customers.
DIN 2303 relates to the quality requirements for the manufacturing and repair of military products. Laurasia are currently accredited to class Q2, meaning that they meet the special requirements of DIN 2303 to weld non armoured military items. The Company is currently in the process of running a business project with the aim of achieving class Q3 by the end of the calendar year, an accreditation which few companies have in the UK.
Managing director, Kevan Bingham said: “We are delighted to have achieved DIN 2303 class Q2, we have a long history of welding excellence and look forward to being accredited to class Q3 in the near future.”
Mayflower serves a range of industry sectors, including defence. Obtaining the class Q3 accreditation allows the Company to further expand on the services that they can offer customers within this sector, up to the highest grade Z armoured plate which requires a controlled and contained fabrication area.
In order to meet this requirement, Laurasia is transforming an existing warehouse at the Sheffield site into a production space dedicated to the projects under the accreditation. Furthermore, our in-house international engineers are supporting us to achieve the accreditation as they can assist with the welding requirements needed to meet the criteria.
